The_Worker_Of_The_Month: Welcome

..A bald, obnoxious and grim portrait with a bleeding tie. With an earring on the left. Black suit, white male, xenophobia. A subjective assemblage of stereotypes. A visual cocktail called 'limited mindset'. He is The Worker of The Month. A personality who is – in general – opportunist and if necessary: cruel. Where can we find his soft heart? Perhaps it is hidden under his fake-ceramic skin, painted to spotless white.

—I wrote several free-poem like texts for months to imagine this fictive personality when I started to work on Nimova. I mixed personal experiences with imagination altering it To get the result of this character. The video is a self-narration by repeating these stories from his childhood, and memories from his adult/present life. I used this narration technique as the practice like during a therapeutic session –

fragmented stories have important information according to the topic they describe – the vocabulary they use: they are puzzles or codes hidden by the narrator more or less                   unconsciously.

/a state of mind in an infinite loop/ No. 1

…I remember the huge amount of freedom I felt as well as the excitement when I stepped into the game of creating a fictive personality.  A possibility to escape from expectations, pressure, and networking for a while. To find a heterotopic place as an identity where no textualization needed, no description of an art piece to being legitimate needed to be written (for a while). Well, how to remain an outsider (or independent) let’s call more underground if the professional art scene requires an in-melting process? How to get published still if no contacts collected; consciously no network built? To be/remain/become an outsider is a contradictional position. But as always in the periphery, a lot of interesting, forgotten, or left-over things can be discovered.
So why a Russian outsider artist?  Why the name Nimova. This bald, antipathetic, grim portrait with a bleeding tie. With an earring on the left. Black suit, white male, xenophobia. A subjective assemblage of stereotypes. A visual cocktail called limitedthinking. He is The Worker of The Month. A person – who is in general – an opportunist and if it’s needed: cruel. Where is his melted heart?  This bald, antipathetic, grim portrait with a bleeding tie. With an earring on the left. Black suit, white male, xenophobia. A subjective assemblage of stereotypes. A visual cocktail called limitedthinking. He is The Worker of The Month. A person – who is in general – an opportunist and if it’s needed: cruel. Where is his melted hearth? Hidden under his fake-ceramic skin painted to black. He is an imagination of a woman (yes, definitely, from any point of view). An Idol of a wished male. And the context is only given by a Russian name with more or less defined obsession: outsider artist(a) with a sadly romantic face. An unknown lady with chic somewhere in Middle-Eastern Europe. ‘Nimova‘ as a quibble  — really simply; from Veronika/il nome/NOVE/ova. Nothing special behind – at least a new name as rebirth in a virtual way. Or a symbol of the ritual how a sensitive and paranoid mind can split in two. Also a reaction or joke with the phobia in Hungarian politics (before it’s about-turn) of Russia. Veronika Romhány (myself) was always a big fan of Russian literature and the classical avant-garde movements in the 20th Russia. In 2013 at the time of the birth of Nimova (later Nimova Projeckt) it was only a tiny odor in this Name&Identity choice and Romhány herself did not even guess that the term of Russian influence in politics and the economy will play a more and more important role in Hungarian government’s decisions. How tricky life is. This is the last thing Veronika would count with.
